Some Thoughts about My Future

I had quite perplexed recently about my future. Yes, I am sure that my ultimate goal in my life is to promote mutual understanding among different communities in Malaysia. Yet, how do I actually achieve the goal? If I am going to work on NGO, should I spend more time in organizing activities other than merely focusing on studies? How do I manage my time well to cope with the challenges in the future?

I have missed an important question when I was thinking: what I am able to achieve? There are so many things needed to be done. Am I able to do them all?

I am really grateful that I went to an event organized by Edinburgh career today. It was just a simple game; analysing a pack of cards, which display different kind of abilities and skills needed in careers, and picking five of them which could be considered as core advantage. Here is my result:

1. Strategic Awareness
– Pay attention to the big picture to inform your decisions.

2. Incubator
– Thinking deeply about things over time, pondering and reflecting to arrive at the best conclusion.

3. Improver
 – Constantly looking for better ways of doing things, for how things can be improved.

4. Drive
 – Self-motivating and pushing yourself hard to achieve what you want out of life

5. Scribes
 – Conveying thought and ideas through the written word.

Ya, that is me, my true self. What really shocks me (again) is that none of abilities relating to communication which I can consider as my advantage. And I also cannot make right decision quickly and easily. So, I can never be a true leader, not to mention to become an entrepreneur. Provided I distract myself from the trajectory I am in, I will regret in the rest of my live.

What I can do now is to sharpen the abilities I have. To become a scholar is the only path I can choose. Otherwise, I can never fully realise my potential.

Kick off right now! Rock out right now! You have only one year! Do not forget that your goal is push yourself to be better than Wong Chin Huat. Think about it, how much effort you need to pay to achieve the goal?

Don’t waste time or time will waste you.
